Obverse: The Morgan Dollar was designed by George T. Morgan and features "Lady Liberty" on its obverse. Background Story:The New Orleans Mint Morgan Dollar Trio coins are in almost uncirculated condition to brilliant uncirculated condition. First minted in 1878, much of the discussion about the Morgan Dollar centered on the beautiful portrait on the coin. The public demand to find out who this woman was, caused a reporter to disclose her name in 1879. Anna Willess Williams, a schoolteacher, was the one who posed as Lady Liberty for the coin. The Morgan dollar for the next 100 plus years has proved the most popular coin to collect.
